Search for a dental clinic in Jumeirah, an off-plan villa or a gaming laptop in Dubai, and the first screen often isn’t a tidy list of websites. You may see a map of nearby businesses, an AI-written summary, product cards with prices or a video. The standard organic links sit further down.

That matters because Google is where UAE customers search. By StatCounter’s measure, Google accounted for about 95.7% of search engine use in the UAE in August 2026. AI Overviews are live in the UAE and work in Arabic, and AI Mode arrived in English across the region in August 2025, with Arabic added that October.

Ranking still matters, but the better question is whether your business appears where customers look, and whether that turns into enquiries. Here are eight ways to make that happen.

  1. Treat Google Business Profile as a storefront

For clinics, schools, showrooms and service businesses, map results can do more selling than the website. Keep categories, services, hours and service areas accurate, especially if you serve customers across several emirates. Add real photos, answer questions and reply to reviews, including critical ones.

Earn reviews honestly by asking every customer, not just the happy ones. If Google finds fake or incentivised reviews, it can temporarily stop a profile from receiving new reviews, hide existing ones for a set period or show a public warning. That is a heavy price for a shortcut.

  1. Write answers, not just pages

To appear as a supporting link in AI Overviews or AI Mode, a page needs to be indexed and eligible for a snippet. Google says no extra files, special markup or separate AI optimisation is required. Clear, accurate content written for people is what counts.

Build pages that answer the questions your sales team hears every week. What does buying property for a Golden Visa involve? How long does school admission take? What drives the cost of a B2B software rollout? Put the direct answer near the top, then support it with detail.

Keep classic search in view too. Google only shows AI Overviews when it judges they add value, so many searches won’t trigger one.

  1. Publish in Arabic as well as English

Many Dubai businesses run English-only websites even though part of their audience searches in Arabic. With Google’s AI features now working in Arabic, Arabic pages give you a chance to appear for those searches instead of leaving them to competitors and portals. Have them properly written, not machine-translated.

  1. Feed Google accurate product data

Google can show crawled product pages without Merchant Center, but a feed widens where products are eligible to appear: Search, Google Images and Lens, plus surfaces such as the Shopping tab and YouTube depending on country. Placement isn’t guaranteed.

Most of the work is data quality: accurate prices, stock levels, shipping and returns information, and product details that match your website exactly.

  1. Use structured data that reflects the page

Organization, LocalBusiness and Product markup help Google understand who you are and what a page contains. Markup can make a page eligible for richer results, but it doesn’t guarantee them, and it isn’t a requirement for AI features.

Google’s main instruction is that structured data should match the text visible on the page. Marking up prices, reviews or FAQs that visitors can’t see tends to backfire.

  1. Show up in video and image results

Google recommends supporting text with high-quality images and video where relevant. Use original photos of your premises, team and products, with descriptive alt text. Video is often the more persuasive format: a clinic explaining a procedure, a school tour, a developer walking through a community or a software demo.

Property brands need to plan for compliance. Any video that advertises a specific property or project counts as a real estate advert, which in Dubai requires a Trakheesi permit from the Dubai Land Department, with the permit number shown on the advert.

  1. Make your brand easy to recognise and trust

Keep your business name, address, phone number and service descriptions consistent across your website, Business Profile, directories and industry listings. Earn mentions from trade publications, partners and associations.

Be careful with claims. The Dubai Health Authority’s standards for medical advertising on social media bar exaggerated phrases such as “the best”, “100%” and “no side effects”. Clinics should apply the same discipline to their profiles and landing pages.

  1. Run SEO and paid search as one system

Organic visibility takes months to build, and many high-intent searches are crowded with ads, portals and maps. Paid search covers those gaps and quickly shows which terms, offers and landing pages convert. Use that data to shape your content plan and decide where paid spend can be reduced.

Both channels should feed the same CRM so every lead can be traced to its source. Then judge the whole system on outcomes: qualified leads, cost per qualified lead, conversion rate, revenue, return on ad spend and customer acquisition cost. Follow-up matters too. If you work with an SMS marketing agency in Dubai, give it the same lead data so consented follow-up messages reach new enquiries quickly.

Where to start

Not every business needs all eight:

  • Clinics: start with the Business Profile and reviews.
  • Online retailers: start with Merchant Center.
  • B2B firms: start with answer-led content and credible mentions.
  • Property brands: start with compliant video and their own content, rather than relying entirely on portals.

Visibility only pays off if the click lands somewhere that converts. If customers book or buy inside an app, the brief you give your app development company in Dubai should cover how people arrive from search, not just what they do once inside.

FAQs

What does search visibility beyond blue links mean?

It means appearing in Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode, map results, product listings and video, not just standard organic listings, and turning that presence into enquiries.

Do I need special optimisation to appear in Google’s AI Overviews?

No. Google says no special files or markup are needed. A page must be indexed and eligible for a snippet, and helpful content plus accurate Business Profile and Merchant Center data does the rest.

Does ranking first on Google still matter?

Yes, though AI summaries reduce clicks on standard results. A Pew Research Center study of US adults (March 2025 data) found people clicked a standard result in 8% of visits when an AI summary appeared, against 15% when one didn’t. We’re not aware of comparable UAE data.

How can I tell whether AI search features are helping my business?

Search Console’s Generative AI report, launched in June 2026 and rolled out to all sites over the summer, shows how often your pages appear in AI Overviews and AI Mode, but not the queries behind them. Pair it with lead and revenue tracking.

Will Arabic and English pages compete with each other?

Not if they’re set up correctly. Give each language its own URL and link them with hreflang tags, which helps Google show each searcher the right version.
